Computer Studies without touching a keyboard

While at Oban High School in the 1970s I took computing studies as one of my 6th-year courses. I didn't touch a keyboard for the whole year.

The course consisted in writing out (in long-hand) computer programmes and then these were sent each week to Jordanhill in Glasgow. I think it was Fortran language we had to use (but my memory is a bit unclear on that). They were then fed into a computer and about a week later we were sent back the print-outs of the programme. If it worked, there were interesting maths calculations that showed up. I guess that the early training I had on this course was more related to maths and logic than any language or communication areas. I passed the course in computing studies without touching a computer :-)
