The IT Learning Exchange
by admin published Mar 05, 2011
The IT Learning Exchange, launched in September 1994, was an ICT support centre serving the London area with a very broad range of expertise in using and supporting the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in education. Part of the Department of Education at London Metropolitan University, it aimed to support teachers and others in schools with a comprehensive ICT support service to reflect the changes in the technology and pedagogic policy of educational ICT. Its ethos was to provide a service that acknowledged the very real pressures and difficulties teachers face in the classroom, balanced with the recognition of the enormous opportunities that ICT can bring. Many of its personnel came from the Inner London Educational Computer Centre (ILECC) which had pioneered the use of computing in London schools since the 1970s, before closing in 1994.
