ULTRAVERSITY RESEARCHERS SPEAK OUT

by Jonathan Furness last modified Friday Nov 18, 2005 01:13

Some of Ultraversity's researchers descended on Ultralab in Chelmsford this evening to take part in some focused research activities

Tonight saw some late night research activities take place at Ultralab in Chelmsford as approximately 10 Ultraversity researchers gathered to give their feedback on the Ultraversity experience thus far. Some of the facilitation / technical team were present to provide a framework with which the researchers could comment against.

Researchers were invited to critique their experiences, both positive and negative, of being an undergraduate researcher who is participating in a fully online degree course. Some of what the researchers said was well understood, but the evidence from the examples they gave are now committed to video tape so these can be transcribed and reported on.

It was an interesting and new opportunity for many of the researchers to meet face to face with their fellow students. The majority, if not all, the researchers had only ever conversed online and so there was much apprehension, though excitement too at the prospect.
