Current employment - Principal Lecturer Anglia Polytechnic University

Since 1998 I have worked for Ultralab, a research department of Anglia Polytechnic University. The focus of my work has been undertaking action research into innovative formal and non-formal e-learning programmes. This is informed through a commitment to an agenda of personalisation and choice.

Currently I am the project director for the Ultraversity, undergraduate online degree programme for 400 full-time students and a staff of 20. In this role, I have lead the development of the degree programme which has included the curriculum development, software development, and a significant focus on professional development for lecturers to prepare and support them in their new role as online facilitators of learning.

In January 2004, I started a 12 month placement with Ultralab South in New Zealand to support this new organistaion through the initial startup phase. In this role I have spent approximately two-thirds of my time working in New Zealand (NZ) consulting projects including supporting the Wananga Maori University in developing a degree in Early Childhood for online delivery.

Prior to Ultraversity, I worked on the Talking Heads project for the national College of School Leadership as one of four managers of a team of 25 online learning facilitators.
