I first came to Ultralab in 1998 when I did two weeks Trident work experience.  I loved the environment so much I applied for a job.

I officially joined the team in July 2001, when I became the Receptionist.  A few months later I became Stephen Heppell's PA.

I now work alongside Maureen Gurr as PA to the Acting Director of ULTRALAB, Richard Millwood.  I manage Richard's appointments, organise his travel for various engagements and prepare the relevant paperwork for each meeting.   I also regularly attend meetings, these include a monthly meeting with the Pro Vice Chancellor.

Whilst working at Ultralab, I have organised many events such as the Summerschool showcase at the Victoria and Albert Museum, the yearly Educational exhibition show BETT, the Ultralab Conference, Ultralab monthly Team Meetings and various internal seminars.

My work also involves liaising with University departments such as Faculty of Education, Finance and Human Resources and various external contacts such as Government Ministers, Overseas Institutions and other project partners such as the DfES, Apple, Oracle and the BBC.  Currently half the team members are distributed across the UK, so I have regular contact with them over Video Conferencing, Online Communities, Voice Over IP and Instant Messaging.

I also provide Reception cover for the whole of Ultralab, this includes administering Databases, welcoming visitors in a courteous and correct manner and other office duties.  I am part of the team that promotes Ultralab and Anglia Ruskin University by collating and distributing Marketing resources.  I also provide admin support for a number of different projects, for example - Ultraversity, Blended Learning and MgBL.

In September 2004, I started looking after the Ultraversity Finance.  I now work with Ultralab Head of Finance, Ann Constable, organising the finances for the whole lab.    I maintain the database for our day to day activities and help Ann to complete reports for the Pro Vice Chancellor on a monthly basis.  I also attend Budget meetings with the Vice Chancellor of the University.  I am continually learning the University's Financial Systems via work based training, heavily supported by Ann.

Ann currently splits her time between Australia and the UK, so we have regularly communication over emails and video conferencing software to help the finances run smoothly.  This means that the lab has 24 hour finance support, which proves very effective!

Since joining Ultralab I have mastered a wide variety of software packages these include Office administration suites, communication tools, Databases and time management software.

All these jobs are very challenging roles but all very rewarding!

Outside of work -- I  currently live at home with my parents.  I enjoy socialising, reading, going to the gym and my favourite of all Shopping.  I have been learning Greek with my mum and sister for many months which is very taxing but extremely enjoyable!
